NCHD Team Visits Camps in Mardan

ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Board Members of National Commission for
Human Development (NCHD) headed by Mrs Shahnaz Wazir Ali, Special
Assistant to Prime Minister on Social Sector, visited NCHD medical
camps in Mardan on Monday. The board members also held a meeting to
approve the emergency health and education relief plan for internally
displaced persons (IDPs). Shahnaz Wazir Ali speaking on the occasion
said that NCHD is extending full support to IDPs. She said that
the district government of Mardan is dealing with the sudden
influx of
over one million IDPs from Swat, Buner and Lower Dir. She said
the district government had requested the NCHD to work in Mardan
in the
field of education, health and for emergency relief. She said
the NCHD had already been working in Mardan since last five years
for
implementation of its regular education and health programmes.
However,
after the request by the district government the NCHD immediately
established a medical base camp at Labour Colony relief camp,
Mardan. It also started emergency medical relief through its
Nowshera and
Charsadda Hub through four mobile teams, she said. Todate NCHD
has provided emergency health relief to more than 3,500 IDPs,
she said. |
